Founded in 2022, The National Chamber Orchestra (NCO) is a brand new ensemble composed of Baltimore-Washington’s finest professional musicians, including members hailing from renowned orchestras such as the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra and the National Symphony Orchestra, alongside a roster of accomplished international soloists.

Conductor Julien Benichou and Clarinetist YaoGuang Zhai, both accomplished musicians, shared a common vision of creating a chamber orchestra that would showcase the immense talent of the Baltimore-Washington region’s classical music scene. 

The ensemble is dedicated to the chamber orchestra repertoire, from composers of the first Viennese school to living composers.
